What kind of entries can I submit?

Any form of creative writing such as, but not limited to, poetry, short stories, scripts, and other literary forms. The pieces must fit or relate to the theme of the folio. This year’s theme, Shades of Gray: “Daybreak” encompasses narratives that cradle the echoes of hope and triumph. Amidst turmoil and sorrow, the folio takes heart the warmth of sunlight—where clarity awaits with an ever-patient gaze.

Entries submitted may only be in English or Filipino. However, entries published before, either printed or digitally, will not be accepted.

What kind of entries can I submit?

Where and how should I submit my entries?
For submissions, place your pieces in Google Docs using your Benilde mail. Make sure to adjust its sharing settings to “Anyone in this group with this link can edit.” The word limit is 700 words, though longer submissions can be accepted at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

Copy the share link and paste it in its designated question in the submissions form. Make sure to fill up the other required details before submitting. The link to the submissions form will be posted on our social media accounts on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram (@thebenildean).
How many entries am I allowed to submit?
You can submit as many as you want. However, make sure to carefully follow the instructions for each submission. Submit each piece individually in the form.
Until when can I submit entries?
You can submit entries until November 14, 2025.
When will Shades of Gray be published?

How will I be notified if my work was or wasn't chosen for Shades of Gray?
The only way to find out is to wait for the online launch of the folio of Shades of Gray: Daybreak. For updates, follow our social media accounts at Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram (@thebenildean).
Who is eligible to submit?
Shades of Gray will only accept entries from currently enrolled (1st term, A.Y. 2025-2026), bonafide students of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
What are your criteria in the selection process?
The only criteria for the selection process are the quality of your work and how well it incorporates the theme of Shades of Gray: Daybreak. Submission screening is done by the Literary Editor, Karilyon Editor, Associate Editor for Print, and the Editor in Chief of the Benildean Press Corps.
